New Super Mario Bros. Wii

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

New Super Mario Bros. for the DS sold millions and Nintendo decided to bring the adventure back but on the Wii. Did they succeed?

In this game Mario returns but on the big screen and with his brother, Luigi, and a couple of toads. This game starts at Princess Peach's Birthday, when Bowser Jr. and the Koopa Kids suddenly pop out of the cake and kidnap her. Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad, and Yellow Toad follow the airship and the adventure starts. The graphics to my surprise worked out perfectly, each level has amazing graphics and shows that this is how graphics should look in a 2D Mario game. The controls were very simple allowing everyone to play. Also, in this game there is a four player mode that lets your friends and family play along with the adventure. The levels are beautiful and present something new in each one. Also the bosses are fun, however they have a repetitive feel. The game's length is good, however the game lacks secrets like in Super Mario World. Overall, I thought this game felt amazing and fun. This game brings back the original Mario Bros. game play but with more to offer.

New Super Mario Bros.

New Super Mario Bros.

The Super Mario Bros. Series has had impressive level design and creativity. Nintendo wanted to bring that back to the gaming world. Did Nintendo Succeed or was it a fad?

In this game Mario is at it again in an all new 2D adventure. That classic game was enhanced with 3D enemies, Blocks,Map, and even Mario. Also in the game new power ups were added. Such as the Mega Mushroom, and Koopa Shell. However the Mega Mushroom can make levels easy and makes it a very easy game to complete. This game has very little secrets, accept for the Luigi Secret.(press L+R+A while choosing your file) A positive in the game is the three star coins placed throughout each level. Later you use the star coins to unlock toad houses. Also in this game, Nintendo added some more Super Mario Bros. Music that show progress throughout series but still keeps the mood of the classics. The level design in this game is near perfect as you encounter a different obstacle in each world. The game is loaded with boss battles and the creativity put behind them. However the boss battle are very easy and require little to no skills. However, the levels in each land are longer and each world introduces something new. New Super Mario Bros. combines old with new to make a fantastic game.

Super Mario Bros. 2:Lost Levels

Super Mario Bros. 2: Lost Levels

In 1988 Nintendo created Super Mario Bros. 2; Lost Levels but replaced this game with Super Mario Bros. 2. Should Nintendo have replaced it?

In this game Mario plays the same role as in the first accept the levels are different and the death-shroom was add it the mix. Unlike the Super Mario Bros.2, Mario and Luigi are the only playable characters and the classic enemies return as well as the item blocks. The graphics between Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2:Lost Level, are very similar, however the background is a little different. Another similarity between the two is the level designs and secret rooms. The controls also stay the same throughout the Mario Bros Series. The music holds the same charm during game play and the story also is the same. The length is eight worlds but the game saves itself between worlds. Bowser also rules the fourth level in each world with the original bridge battle. The difficulty though is much harder that the first and can be hard for inexperienced players. Overall, I found this game to be the real Super Mario Bros. 2 because this game adds to the original but keeps it great!

Super Mario Bros. 3

Super Mario Bros. 3

In 1988 Super Mario Bros. 2 was released and lacked the Super Mario feel, will Super Mario Bros. 3 save the Mario feel or will it lack the feel?

This game has better graphics and the first world map in the Mario series. The game also introduces the return of the classic Mario enemies and adds some more enemies to the list. (Boo, Dry Bones, Koopa Kids, etc.) Since this game has a world map it let Nintendo stretch the games length and difficulty. Also because of the world map, Nintendo added toad houses and matching areas to the world. The characters are animated even more vibrant and amazing level design creates a fun environment. Nintendo added the Fire Flower and many other power suits to help you through the Mushroom Kingdom. However, the levels are a little short and the story repeats itself once again. Besides that, Super Mario Bros. 3 is full of secrets and a variety of bosses. The bosses consist of the the koopa kids and Bowser, however the koopa kid battle are pretty much alike and gets annoying when repeated. The levels are also full of lively music and you can see the creativity that Nintendo. This game is instant classic and is a must have.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Mario Bros. 2

In 1985 Super Mario Bros. was release and jump started the Mario Series. Can this sequel repeat the same satisfaction as the classic Super Mario Bros.?

In this game you are able to choose through four characters with all different strengths and weaknesses. However, this can become frustrating when you realized you selected the wrong character for the level. The playable characters are Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach. The story is not mentioned in this game and the graphics are not much better than in Super Mario Bros. Also in this game the levels are designed differently from the original. The absence of idem blocks and classic enemies (Goombas, Koopas, Hammer Bros., etc) in the game makes it less enjoyable. The game also has a no power suits (Fire Flower) and a more confusing life gauge that confuses me. The game has good length though of these changes and the music still give the Mario Series charm to each level. This game also has new boss battles at the end of each level. However, this can become boring after playing for a while. I feel that the game, Super Mario Bros. 2, lacks the Mario feel but is still a great game to play.

Super Mario Bros. (original)

Super Mario Bros. (Original)

In 1985 Nintendo released super Mario bros. This game started the 2D platform game and Nintendo.

In this game and for its time the graphics were like the arcade games and the story was the same in all the Mario series. Of course the story is getting old but what is a Mario game without it. However in this game the boss battles repeat themselves over and over to where it drives you crazy. Also the game is very difficult with no saves and only three lifes to survive through eight worlds. But this game is full of creativity and the controls are simple and easy. The level design seems to repeat itself but is full of secrets and warp zones. The classic music makes you remember this game and the series through your life.
